The District Industries Centre was started on the objective to find out the Micro Small Medium Enterprises in the District. Also it helps those Enterprises to tackle their hurdles faced by the MSME’s under one roof.
The District Industries Centre have been formed with a view to provide all assistance to Micro Small and Medium Enterprises under One Roof. The following assistances are offered to Entrepreneurs through District Industries Centre.
Motivation Campaigns
Motivation campaigns are organized periodically at every panchayat
union, Municipality, final year students of Engineering Colleges, Polytechnics
for identification of prospective entrepreneurs.
Services offered by District Industries Centre
a.
Financial Assistance upto Rs.25 Lakhs for Manufacturing Enterprises and Rs.10
Lakhs for Service Enterprises from any Nationalized Banks
or Selected Commercial Private Banks.
b. 35% Subsidy for the Enterprises setup in rural areas and 25% Subsidy for the Enterprises setup in Urban Areas.
c. Production / Service Oriented Units are eligible under the scheme (Except the Negative List).
d.
Educational qualification: Minimum 8th standard pass for projects
more than Rs.10 lakhs in manufacturing sector and project more
than Rs.5 lakhs in service sector.
Information on incentives available to Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises in Tamil Nadu
Micro, Small & Medium Manufacturing Enterprises set up in the State and Commenced Commercial Production on or after 22.02.2008 are eligible to the following incentives / concessions from the Government of Tamil Nadu.

III. Special Capital Subsidy for Thrust Sector Enterprises set up any where in the State
15% Special subsidy on the value of Plant and Machinery for 10 Thrust Sector Industries viz., Electrical and Electronic Industry, Leather and Leather goods, Auto Parts and components, Drugs and Pharmaceuticals, Solar Energy Equipment, gold and Diamond Jewellery for exports, Pollution Control equipments, Sports Goods and Accessories, Cost effective building material and Readymade Garments.

The Government of Tamil Nadu has declared certain Blocks in the State as Backward in order to develop industries by giving them 15% capital investment subsidy on the fixed assets for units coming up in declared backward blocks. The following are the backward blocks in Tiruvallur District |

SINGLE WINDOW CLEARANCE CONCEPT: The Single Window Clearance Committee Meets once in a month under the Chairmanship of the District Collector, to redress the Grievances of the Entrepreneurs and other Government Clearance / Licences.
COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY: Tiruvallur District is one of the fastest developing district in Tamil Nadu in terms of Industrial Development. The District has many leading Industries like Madras Refineries, Madras Fertilizers, Manali Petro Chemicals, MRF, Ashok Leyland, TI cycles, Britannia India Limited, Parry India Limited Hindustan Motors and Lucas TVS. It also boasts Ennore Thermal Power Station and the Avadi Tank Factory. The District has 16 Industrial Estates 11 developed by the Government and 5 by Private Organizations.
