This Department is established for the control over the Mineral Administration in the District. The sand , stone and Gravel quarries were granted in the Government Poramboke lands Gravel and Savudu quarries were granted in the Government lands to the bonafide government works like Public works Department, Southern Railway, Highways Department and Port Trust etc. Raids were conducted to curtail the illicit quarrying and t transportation of minerals and seized so many vehicles involved in illegal transportation of minerals and levied penalties. The inspection work has been carried out for the grant of lease to quarrying.
